The Ministère des Affaires municipales et de l'Habitation du Québec (MAMH) released the 2025 Population Decree for the Northern villages. This data is the reference for the application of laws and regulations as well as for the management of government programs. The data can be viewed here.
A new report from the research program to evaluate the cost-of-living reduction measures in Nunavik is now available. Entitled “Price Dynamics and the Impact of the Food and Other Essentials Program”, this report analyzes recent trends in grocery prices in Nunavik and explores factors that may affect the effectiveness of the Food and Other Essentials program. Recently, Statistics Canada released the results of the 2022 Indigenous Peoples Survey. This edition, the sixth one, focuses on families and children including child care, access to services, family stability, intergenerational trauma and discrimination, sense of belonging, and Indigenous languages and culture. The available data for Inuit people in the province of Québec has been added to Nunivaat. Some of it is available in the children section, and some other in the Indigenous People one.
The 2023 fire statistics are now available in Nunivaat. They provide information such as the material losses due to fires, the number of fire by village, the main use of buildings involved in a fire, the most common sources of ignition and the most common causes of fire. These statistics can be consulted in the data section under the Public Security/Fires. The annual update of this data is possible thanks to the collaboration of Departement of Civil Security.
