Statistics Canada is hiring

Statistics Canada is currently hiring enumerators and crew leaders for the 2026 Census in select northern and remote communities. The primary responsibility of enumerators is to collect completed census questionnaires from households. 
As for the crew leaders, they are responsible for all activities related to the collection of completed census questionnaires in their assigned area. The employment period runs from May 2026 to July 2026, depending on the position and location. Additional information and instructions to apply are available at census.gc.ca/jobs-north.

The Ministère des Affaires municipales et de l'Habitation du Québec recently released the 2026 Population Decree for the Northern villages. These data are the benchmark for the application of laws and regulations as well as for the management of government programs. Crime statistics 2024

Crime statistics 2024 are now available. They cover different aspects of criminality in Nunavik including crimes against the personcrimes against property, arrests and detentions, seizures, contraband, and police interventions by category and village. The annual update of these statistics are possible thanks to the collaboration of the Nunavik Police Service (NPS).

Nunivaat Research Program
The Nunivaat Research Program is devoted to the development of knowledge through statistical tools and researches, in order to support public decision in Nunavik. It includes the design and the execution of special statistical surveys, and the preparation of statistical reports.
About the program

Nunivaat is a major initiative of the Louis-Edmond-Hamelin Chair affiliated with the University of the Arctic. The core financial contribution to the Nunivaat databank and the Nunivaat Research Program comes from the Kativik Regional Government.
